Description
Includes glazed fruits (fruit treated with a sugar solution and dried), candied fruit (dried glazed fruit immersed in a sugar solution and dried so that the fruit is covered by a candy-like sugar shell), and crystallized fruit is prepared (dried glazed fruit rolled in icing or granulated sugar and dried).1 Examples include: cocktail (maraschino) cherries, candied citrus peel, candied citrons (e.g. used in holiday fruitcakes), and mostarda di frutta.This page provides information on the food additive provisions that are acceptable for use in foods conforming to the food category.
