Danone staff collectively celebrate World Food Safety Day
The food company Danone celebrated World Food Safety Day on a global level this year, with an online event featuring FAO’s Senior Food Safety and Quality Officer, Markus Lipp, and Virginia Siebenrok, the Chief Food Safety and Quality Officer of the World Food Programme. The event was chaired by Danone Chief Food Safety Officer Monique Pellegrino.
At a national level, Danone China celebrated World Food Safety Day across all business units. The company shared food safety and quality knowledge and promoted food safety awareness, with the aim of “strengthening the mindset of food safety first among all ‘Danoners’, so as to deliver safe food every day!
A hybrid event was organized, connecting over 300 Danoners from the Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuxi offices and factories. Staff shared knowledge and best practices across the Danone businesses in China. Jacques Ponty, Senior Vice President of Danone Waters China, delivered an “inspiring” opening speech from Guangzhou, emphasizing the importance of food safety and quality for daily business operation in China. Jie Xu, China Food Safety Director, shared the CEO’s World Food Safety Day video, stressing that as “Danoners we play a crucial role and should strive for the best in food safety across the value chain to win in the market.”
Janette Zhou, Vice President of Quality of Waters, China, shared the ambition of delivering safe and superior products for consumers. Four Danoners including Ruby Yue, Michelle Jiang, Wendy Weng and Jingjing Zhao shared best practices along the value chain:
• Food safety emerging risk anticipation, prevention and management in China
• Product nonconformity management (PNC) at Waters China
• Quality in manufacturing-integrity sterility validation in aseptic line at Medical Wuxi
• Carrier quality management downstream at Early Life Nutrition (ELN) China
At the end, Yanqi Wang, Early Life Nutrition, Quality and Food Safety Director, promoted the 2022 Quality and Food Safety assessment and invited Danoners from different China Business Units and entities to participate. Employees were reminded that “Food safety is every Danoner’s job. Let’s work together bringing health through food to as many people as possible.”
