World Food Safety Day celebrated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
An event for World Food Safety Day in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was held at Madareem Crown Hotel Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was attended by more than 150 food professionals. Attendees were from government, academia and the private sector.
The event took a “conference” format, where six speakers presented food safety related speeches. The conference was opened by event organizer, Yaser Nazir. He invited Ibrahim Al Sini to Chair the session and Basil Al Hilali to co-chair the session.
The first speaker was Chaikh Toure, Vice President, Quality, at ARASCO Food, who spoke about the application of Six Sigma approaches to food safety. Other speakers wereMariem Ben Said, Head of Food Safety at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Nisreen Abdulsalam from King Abdulaziz University Jeddah, Mahmoud Habib, Regional Quality and Food Safety Head, Mars, Richard Sprenger from Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Nasir Hameed, Chief Quality Officer of NAQUA aquaculture company in Saudi Arabia.
For many participants, this was an opportunity to meet former colleagues and, according to Abdul Raheem, Area Manager TAFGA, such events will be held in five of the largest cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next year.
At the conclusion, a shield was presented to event sponsors: MARS, IDAC Lab, TANMIAH and Tamimi Global Co. Ltd, who were thanked by Basil for their support in making the event successful.
