Tajikistan to celebrate World Food Safety Day with comprehensive communications campaign
Food safety is a priority by the government of Tajikistan. In commemoration of the day, the government plans to roll-out a comprehensive communications campaign with the purpose to: (i) raise awareness of the population on the WHO five keys to safer food; promote food safety as everyone’s business; improve food safety in markets and outlets; strengthen intersectoral collaboration; convene government agencies to take necessary policy decisions to strengthen the national food safety system.
With the support of WHO, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MoHSP) is developing different TV and radio programmes dedicated to World Food Safety Day 2020. The programmes will be broadcasted through the national television channels Tojikiston, Safina, Jahonnamo, Bahoriston, and Farhang, Tandurusti as well as Vatan radio channels. The programmes will be repeatedly broadcasted within a week. This will include short videos to promote the WHO Five Keys to Safer Food in Tajik.
The MoHSP also plans to print and distribute WHO/FAO information materials for World Food Safety Day including the Tajik version of the poster “Food safety is everyone’s business” through primary health care centers (PHC) in the Capital city, Dushanbe. Other information materials and videos in Tajik will be distributed through social networks of MoHSP, Khovar, Asia-plus, etc.
