The delegation of Indonesia thanked the Commission for its support and also thanked the outgoing Chair and Vice Chairs for “having brought Codex to this level”. They expressed the hope that with Dr Purwiyatno Hariyadi Codex could “become more relevant to real problems of food safety and international trade”.

The delegation of the United Kingdom said: “We are proud and honoured that the UK candidate Steve Wearne has been elected today vice Chair of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. As a vice Chair Steve looks forward to serving in the interests of all Codex members for an inclusive, transparent and effective Codex which can deliver on its twin objectives”, they added.
