Draft standard for processed cheese meeting - Montevideo

The Codex Committee for Milk and Milk Products (CCMMP) physical working group on processed cheese will be meeting in Montevideo Uruguay from Tuesday 8th to Thursday 10th December to discuss, and continue drafting, the Standard for Processed Cheese which was adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission at Step 5 in July 2015.

The meeting is chaired by New Zealand and co-chaired by Uruguay.

Minimum cheese content

Issues to be resolved include the scope and product description in the standard as well as the minimum cheese content. The group will also discuss matters such as the development of a list of appropriate food additives.

The deadline for completion of the work is June 2016.
