Pesticides Residues Committee meeting in Beijing

14/04/2015

Pesticide residue refers to the pesticides that may remain on or in food after they are applied to food crops.

Codex establishes and maintains a database which contains Codex Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides and Extraneous Maximum Residue Limits adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

The Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) meeting this week in Beijing establishes these maximum limits for pesticide residues in specific food items or in groups of food.

This 47th session of the committee will be examining proposed draft maximum residue levels for pesticides in food and feed at different stages of the "step" processes. It will also examine and decide on proposed revisions of the Classification of Food and Feed at step 4 for selected vegetable commodity groups.

The agenda also includes a discussion paper on guidance to facilitate the establishment of maximum residue limits for pesticides for minor crops/speciality crops.

The working documents and full agenda can be downloaded here.
