Bangladesh enhances awareness on veterinary drugs residues

Annamaria Bruno from the Codex Secretariat and Vittorio Fattori of the FAO Food Safety Unit, were invited by the FAO Food Safety Project in Bangladesh to run a workshop in Dhaka (19-23 January) on the work of Codex and of The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA).

The workshop raised awareness on veterinary drugs residues through a series of presentations and discussions involving representatives from Government, Universities, Research Institutes and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Speaking about the successful outcome of the workshop Annamaria said: "we really hope that this type of initiative can contribute towards greater participation from Bangladesh to the work of Codex".
