Raising awareness of food safety in Ireland
To raise awareness of World Food Safety Day 2022, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) will share a number of images on its Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram pages. The images feature quotes from a range of stakeholders within the Irish food industry from customers to inspectors to interest groups to food businesses. Each stakeholder is answering the question ‘What does food safety mean to me’?
“This campaign showcases the passionate, innovative approach that is taken to food safety in Ireland,” the organizers explained. “It also demonstrates the wide breadth of stakeholders that play a role in delivering our vision of safe and trustworthy food for everyone.”
FSAI World Food Safety Day celebrations will also include an event. On 8 June 2022, FSAI will host a Breakfast Bite webinar outlining what you can expect when an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) carries out an inspection on a food business. In the short Breakfast Bite, Philip Devenish (EHO) will put food business inspections into context answering questions and then running through the specifics of what the EHO assesses at food businesses.

At the heart of the Codex mandate are the core values of collaboration, inclusiveness, consensus building and transparency. Governmental and non-governmental, public and private organizations alike play a vital role in ensuring Codex texts are of the highest quality and based on sound science.
Codex would have little authority in the field of international standard setting if it did not welcome and acknowledge the valuable contributions made by observers. Expert technical bodies, industry and consumer associations
contribute to the standard-setting process in a spirit of openness, collaboration and transparency.
Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can apply for observer status in Codex in order to attend and put forward their views at every stage of the standard-setting process.
