Kazakhstan supports World Food Safety Day

On the eve of the World Food Safety Day which is celebrated around the world on June, 7 2020 the collegium session aimed to implementation of the State Health Development Program of Kazakhstan for 2020 – 2025 (hereinafter – Program) was held at the Ministry of Healthcare on May 29, 2020.

One of the main priority of this Program is “Formation of population’s commitment to healthy lifestyle and developing public health services”. Workshops for capacity building of food producers to develop their professional skills for introduction HACCP principles at food enterprises. There no doubts that it will   stimulate the concrete actions aimed at prevention, identification, and management of foodborne risks, that will contribute to food safety, and population’s health, as a whole.

In order to implement this Program team of  National Center for Expertise, of the Committee for Quality and Safety of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Healthcare jointly with Codex Alimentarius team  initiated a round of cluster training seminars  on food safety in the regions In particular, these seminars are aimed at raising the awareness of food producers, business operators, considered state bodies about the standards of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, Kazakhstan’s activities as the Chairperson of WHO/FAO Coordinating Committee for Europe, as well as the implementation of HACCP principles and GMP and GNP at food enterprises. More than fifty inspectors, food producers, laboratory service specialists participated at the training seminars.

 

 

 

At the heart of the Codex mandate are the core values of collaboration, inclusiveness, consensus building and transparency. Governmental and non-governmental, public and private organizations alike play a vital role in ensuring Codex texts are of the highest quality and based on sound science.

Codex would have little authority in the field of international standard setting if it did not welcome and acknowledge the valuable contributions made by observers. Expert technical bodies, industry and consumer associations contribute to the standard-setting process in a spirit of openness, collaboration and transparency.

Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can apply for observer status in Codex in order to attend and put forward their views at every stage of the standard-setting process.
