Tunisia celebrates World Food Safety Day

As part of the World Food Safety Day celebrations the Tunisian National Agency for Sanitary and Environmental Control of Products (ANCSEP), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and all governmental and non-governmental parties involved in food safety, come together to consolidate food safety efforts and support actions to ensure food safety.

This year World Food Safety Day addresses  "Food safety in markets" especially in times of COVID-19.
 
In this context, ANCSEP and the World Health Organization, in collaboration with all those involved in the field of food safety, have prepared a documentary retracing the experience of the measures taken to ensure the safety of foods in the “Bir Kassaa” and “Ariana” markets, and setting out the measures taken in the context of prevention against COVID19 in order to avoid the risks of contamination.

At the heart of the Codex mandate are the core values of collaboration, inclusiveness, consensus building and transparency. Governmental and non-governmental, public and private organizations alike play a vital role in ensuring Codex texts are of the highest quality and based on sound science.

Codex would have little authority in the field of international standard setting if it did not welcome and acknowledge the valuable contributions made by observers. Expert technical bodies, industry and consumer associations contribute to the standard-setting process in a spirit of openness, collaboration and transparency.

Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can apply for observer status in Codex in order to attend and put forward their views at every stage of the standard-setting process.
