Coronavirus / Codex Committee on Food Additives meeting in China postponed

The Codex Secretariat can confirm that the 52nd meeting of the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA), originally scheduled to take place in Lanzhou, China from 2 to 6 March 2020 has been postponed due to the situation regarding the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

In collaboration with the China National Health Commission and the CCFA Host Secretariat, the Codex Secretariat is exploring whether the meeting could be held in China, at a location to be confirmed, from 22 to 26 June, 2020 with the working groups taking place on 19 to 20 June.

Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues - update

Information and updates regarding the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR), scheduled to meet in Guangzhou, China from 30 March to 4 April 2020 will be published as soon as they become available following close monitoring of the situation and in collaboration with Chinese authorities via the CCPR Host Secretariat.

Codex would have little authority in the field of international standard setting if it did not welcome and acknowledge the valuable contributions made by observers. Expert technical bodies, industry and consumer associations contribute to the standard-setting process in a spirit of openness, collaboration and transparency.

Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can apply for observer status in Codex in order to attend and put forward their views at every stage of the standard-setting process.
