National Codex consultative mechanism
This Council includes representatives of all interested parties, namely, representatives of the Ministry of Health of RoK, the Committee for Public Health Protection of the Ministry of Health, the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision, the Committee of State Inspection in Agro-Industrial Complex and the Central Office of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Center for Expertise, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken, Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization, Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology, Ministry of industry and the infrastructure development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition and various sectoral unions and private organizations, as well as leading national institutions in the field of agriculture and health.
The frequency of the meetings of the Council is once in a quarter, if necessary more often.
In addition, under the Committee for Public Health Protection of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there is operating the Codex Alimentarius Team, which is fulfilling the functions of the Coordinator of the FAO / WHO Coordinating Committee for Europe of the Codex Alimentarius Commission from 2017 to 2020 with the possibility of authority extension until 2022. This team includes 5 specialists. They coordinate the work of national experts in the relevant Codex Committees and EWG, communication with the Codex Secretariat, the FAO/WHO European offices, the OIE Subregional Coordination Office, FAO and WHO country offices, and other functions assigned to the regional coordinating committee.

Sanitary and epidemiological monitoring is carried out by state bodies and organizations of the sanitary and epidemiological service in the manner determined by the state body in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population

The Committee for Public Health Protection of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the National Center of Expertise exercises the monitoring over the safety of products. This type of monitoring is a system of measures aimed at identifying, preventing and suppressing the import, production, use and sale of products that do not meet the requirements of regulatory legal acts in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population, hygienic standards and technical regulations
The Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision, together with the National Reference Center in Veterinary Medicine, carries out state monitoring of the provision of food products, as well as monitoring the safety of veterinary drugs, feed and feed additives.
