The national Codex programme

National Codex consultative mechanism

a technical committee, sub-committee or working group.
Once the need for a standard has been established, these experts meet to discuss and negotiate a draft standard. The national draft is circulated to the public for comment once experts are satisfied with the content.
Comments received are disposed by committee and once consensus is obtained, the final draft is submitted to the Standards Council for approval. If approved by the Standards Council draft becomes a national standard and gazette notice is issued.
